Sinus Symptoms

How are allergies related to sinus disease?

Sinus headaches, sinus pressure, sinus infections and ear pressure, can all be closely linked to nasal allergies. As shown in the picture below, the sinuses open and drain into the nasal passages. Allergies can lead to significant inflammation blocking the sinuses or ears from draining properly. When the sinuses or ears do not drain properly, there is a buildup of pressure leading to headaches or ear pressure. Mucous that doesn’t drain may lead to sinus or ear infections.

Is my post nasal drip and throat clearing related to my sinuses?

Sinus inflammation leads to increased mucous production. This mucous may drain down the back of your throat leading to sore throat, irritation, throat clearing, cough, and bad breath.
