Light-emitting diode (LED) therapy, also known as photodynamic therapy, or PDT, uses red or blue lights to target skin issues such as acne and signs of aging. LED Light Therapy is a gentle, painless, safe and effective cosmetic treatment that’s a perfect compliment to your skincare routine and skincare treatments.

LED Blue Light at Advanced Specialty Care

LED Blue Light Therapy is an FDA-approved non-invasive and non-abrasive cosmetic treatment that stimulates gradual healing by increasing blood circulation and Lymphatic activity. Blue LED Light therapy has proven very effective against more difficult acne cases by attacking the bacteria that causes acne.

Specific wavelengths of blue light target the strain of bacteria that plays a pivotal role in causing acne for many people. The light causes the development of oxygen radicals that kill P. acnes bacteria without damaging healthy skin. A combination of blue light and the red light also appears to be effective. Temporary side effects can include temporary redness, crusting, and peeling in the treated areas.

LED Red Light at Advanced Specialty Care

LED Red Light technology has been used by skincare professionals for its rejuvenating benefits for many years. Deflation, a loss of volume, is caused by a reduction in collagen levels. Deterioration shows up as rough texture, overall dullness, redness, fine lines and wrinkles.

Specific wavelengths of red light are proven to boost overall cellular energy, increasing our body’s natural production of collagen and elastin and increasing microcirculation. For those struggling with acne and wrinkles, Red Light LEDs are also believed to target the skin’s oil glands to reduce cytokines, a class of pro-inflammatory substances believed to play a role in chronic acne. There is minimal risk of side effects and no downtime.

At Advanced Specialty Care, LED Blue Light and Light Red Light Therapy are commonly used in conjunction with other skincare treatments such as HydraFacials. LED Red and Blue Light Therapy is available in our Ridgefield, Norwalk and Stamford, CT offices.
